Prof Dr Mustafa Sancar ATAÇ

Gazi University, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Ankara, Türkiye. 

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sancar ATAÇ graduated from İstanbul University in 1997 and has joined to Specialty education program in Gazi University in Ankara in 1998. He holds specialist diploma of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery since 2004. He also defended his PhD Thesis in 2004. During specialty education he completed his medical education program in 2000- 2001 in departments of, Anesthesiology and Reanimation, Otorhinolaryngology- Head and Neck Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.  He had visited New York University Institution of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery division of Craniofacial Surgery in 2002. In 2004 he visited University of Washington in Seattle for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. In 2005 he visited University Hospital in Zürich Department of Cranio Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery and in 2011 visited Ilizarov Orthopedics and Traumatology center in Syberia- Russia.

He became Associate Professor in 2010. Since 2017 he is full time Professor in the department both as lecturer and surgeon.

He had more than 150 national and international scientific publications and oral- poster presentations including SCI journals. He has directed 8 PhD and specialty thesis. He is reviewer author for many SCI journals and three-chapter editor, and one oral and maxillofacial book translation editor. 

He was the president of Turkish Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, 2019- 2025. He is executive board member in Skull base Society. He is councilor of Turkey for European Association of Craniomaxillofacial Surgery and International Collage of Maxillofacial Surgeons. He served as councilor for International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, 2013 to 2023.

His main interests are Craniofacial deformity Surgery for acquired or congenital anomalies, Temporomandibular joint and region pathology and Surgery, advanced-reconstructive implant surgery and 3D design and printing technologies in medicine.

He can speak English and Germany. His hobbies are basketball, poets and playing golf.

He is married with two children.
